I have been reborning now for a few years and have found many different techniques that have helped me and found a few that don't.

The first step is once the kit arrives at my door that it is washed, that way I know that there is no dust or dirt on the kit before the paint process starts. The kit is then air dried so that there are no wipe marks and is a clean and clear vinyl to work with.

I then get out all the paints that are needed for the process of my reborns to become more than just a kit. The oven is turned on and ready to go!!!!

Every layer of paint is baked at 130 Degrees Celcius, I would suggest that if anyoe is going to make their own reborn to buy an oven thermometer as it every oven varies on their tempetures.

My first layer is a flesh layer, this will make it easier when it comes to the veining of the reborn.

Because the veining is in majoritly blue you do not want to make the mistake of dying the vinyl so that the veining process is too blue or too thick, remember that you want the reborn to look like a real baby not something out of a horror movie :)

After the veinging process you then have more layers of flesh tones and then the blushing and adding colour to the reborn.

If you look at your own skin tone you will notice that it isn't all one colour, even your flesh tone is different on different parts of the body

We all have red blotches or pigmentations or little freckles and with babies little milk spots, it is no different when making a reborn doll.

Attention to detail is what makes them so real and life like unlike a bought doll from toy shops that is why reborns are more than a normal factory bought one.

A reborn is unique in everyway. I have tried to make a duplicate of what I have done previously and to this day have not succeeded. Every single reborn is made to be unique.

Once I have finished all the flesh tones, veining, blushing, lips and nails there is also the eyebrows it is then onto the hair process.

The technical term for this is 'Hair Rooting' and is done strand by strand with a very fine needle. I use a 43g needle so that it gives a more realistic look the reborns hair as though it is ment to be there.

I use mohair which is so soft to touch. The hair I have bought is from America and is the softest I have found so far.

I also use Human hair which I have found to be wonderful for a more realistic look especially on toddlers and on the likes of Angelica by Reva Schick where they need to have a long look of hair.

Once I am happy with the hair and how much or little it has the inside of the hair is securely glued and left to dry, then glued a 2nd time and left to dry.

The reborn is now ready to put together and beautifully dressed and ready to go to his or her new family.
